Various Internships at USAID Public Health Institute Sustaining Technical and Analytic Resources (STAR).

 The following internships are available at STAR:

  • HIV Testing Services Intern (Deadline: 01/03/2022)
  • Pediatric and Adolescent HIV Treatment Intern (Deadline: 12/27/2021)
  • Maternal and Infant HIV Treatment Intern (Deadline: 12/27/2021)
  • HIV Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision Intern (Deadline: 12/08/2021)
  • Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition Communications Intern (Deadline: 12/08/2021)
  • OVC/PPIR Social Services Intern (Deadline: 12/08/2021)
  • Supply Chain Analytics Intern (Deadline: 12/08/2021)
These internships are all based in Washington DC,  however, due to the pandemic, the work mode is currently virtual. Please note that PHI is authorized to do business in many, but not all, states. If you are not located in or able to work from a state where PHI is registered, you will not be eligible for employment. Please speak with your recruiter to learn more about where PHI is registered.

The specific Duties for each internship vary, but they generally include:

  • Analyze and present data for USAID and PEPFAR programming to inform technical decision making and prioritization.
  • Perform literature reviews to compile and communicate best practices and fill key knowledge gaps for USAID and PEPFAR programming and policy.
  • Compile and adapt tools (for instance related to HIV self testing, index testing, HTS in the context of COVID, etc.) for the field.
  • Support the work and assessment of PEPFAR HIV Testing Service implementation; translate knowledge for programs that are implementing evidence-based HTS best practices.
  • Participate in providing country support, with countries to be assigned based on experience and interest.
  • Support USAID as needed.

General Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled masters or other post-bachelor’s degree candidate or completion of such within the past 12 months related to supply chain management, business, information systems, computer science or related field.
  • Proficiency in statistical packages.
  • Professional or academic experience with global health, data analytics, supply chain management, procurement, and/or logistics for a large organization and/or HIV programs.
  • Ability to analyze data from different sources/databases utilizing multiple data analytic platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation and team building skills, and ability to work cross-culturally with diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated innovative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills.
  • US citizenship or US permanent residency required.
