The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) is a non-profit, bipartisan public policy organization established in 1962 to provide strategic insights and practical policy solutions to decision makers concerned with global security and prosperity. Over the years, it has grown to be one of the largest organizations of its kind, with a staff of more than 200 employees, including more than 120 analysts working to address the changing dynamics of international security across the globe.

The CSIS Global Health Policy Center (GHPC) works with diverse stakeholders to make U.S. global health efforts more strategic, integrated, and sustainable, as well as to raise awareness of global health and its importance to U.S. national security. The key focus areas include global health security, women’s and children’s health, nutrition and food security, the sustainability of U.S. bilateral and multilateral global health initiatives, and the burden of infectious diseases.

CSIS GHPC seeks a highly motivated Outreach Manager to support its outreach and communication objectives. This position will support GHPC in executing focused promotion and outreach activities and will play a key role in advancing GHPC’s major initiatives. They also will support the research and organizational work of senior staff and engage regularly with the GHPC Deputy Director and other staff.


The Role:

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, supporting the Director and Deputy Director in the following

Coordination of GHPC’s external outreach (80%)
•Compose and disseminate program related content on social media.
•Update web and social media content to reflect project developments.
•Coordinate production of program newsletter.
•Communicate with external contacts and other CSIS experts.
•Participate in GHPC meetings, and attend relevant hearings, and public/private events.
•Collaborate with Global Health Policy staff to compose outreach campaigns.
•Plan, edit and disseminate podcast series content.
•Analyze user metrics and support development and expansion of the program outreach strategy.

Coordination of logistics for program meetings, conferences, events, including (but not limited to)

•Planning and executing event logistics.
•Drafting correspondence.
•Developing background and preparatory memos.
•Communicating verbally or in writing within CSIS and with external partners.

Other Office Administrative and Management Duties (20%), potentially including but not limited to

•Backstopping or supporting other team members in the planning, execution, and organization of meetings.
•Other tasks as assigned by the Director, Deputy Director, and/or senior staff.


Qualifications:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively write, and present content designed for external audiences.

• Experience (3-5 years) managing social media platforms, using web-based research tools and conducting podcast editing software.
• Experience running online events.
• Experience with external communications, multimedia production, and social media in a professional setting desired.
• Experience developing talking points for speaking engagement, presentations, or meetings.
• Bachelor’s degree and (3-5) years’ experience with Global Health, International Relations, International Development, Public Policy/Administration, or related field.
• Must have demonstrated, strong knowledge of and interest in global health security issues, policies, programs, stakeholders, and/or multilateral coordination platforms, particularly U.S. investments.
• Ability to operate under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills, emotionally intelligent and attention to detail.
• PC literate, specifically MS Office.
