The role
The Project Manager leads, oversees, and coordinates internally and externally to ensure the timely and effective delivery of a specific TWB global project. This diverse and dynamic role coordinates the design, resourcing and implementation of language, research and terminology services and may engage directly in remote and field-level data collection.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate delivery and monitoring of project activities, in line with donor and TWB standards, liaising between teams and with partner organizations, and promoting effective planning and communication
- Support the management of project budgets, evaluation and reporting in line with TWB and donor requirements, with support from finance and global crisis response colleagues
- Represent TWB’s language services, research, and language technology work in relevant humanitarian forums, using evidence and learning to raise awareness of the importance and impact of language and language tech in public health emergencies and humanitarian action
- Coordinate with TWB’s global program development, identifying funding and partnership opportunities and developing proposals based on ongoing scoping of need and information from TWB’s programs and partner engagement
- In collaboration with TWB’s global finance and HR teams, ensure financial and HR procedures are adhered to
- Contribute to a positive, innovative and supportive work environment where TWB’s values are understood and upheld
Qualifications
The project manager should be an innovative self-starter with a strong sense of initiative, an understanding of the humanitarian sector and management credentials, and enthusiastic about the importance of increasing access to knowledge through language. The right candidate is an energetic team player and leader who agrees with TWB´s basic beliefs and values and who can work virtually with team members based throughout the world.
Requirements
- 5+ years of project design and management experience in the humanitarian sector
- International humanitarian aid experience and demonstrated understanding of communicating with communities/accountability to affected populations/risk communication and community engagement programming
- 3+ years’ experience of external representation, with a track record of effective coordination and liaison with UN agencies, international NGOs and governments
- Strong writing and presentation skills in English
- Fluency and writing skills in one or more other languages relevant for humanitarian response preferred
- Familiarity with language and/or communications technology desirable
- Interpreting or translation experience a plus
- Tech-savvy and open to innovative solutions
