National Birth Equity Collaborative: Policy Analyst
Position Summary
The National Birth Equity Collaborative seeks a Policy Analyst to
support our federal policy agenda. The Policy Analyst will assist the Policy
Director in expanding our legislative and regulatory plans. The National
Birth Equity Collaborative (NBEC) is a non-governmental organization dedicated
to eliminating racial disparities in maternal health and birth outcomes. We
work to advance birth equity by creating solutions that optimize Black maternal
and infant health through training, research, policy advocacy, and
community-centered collaboration.
The
successful candidate will have a deep commitment to advancing reproductive
justice for Black and brown communities, experience developing innovative
policy solutions, and be a subject matter expert on maternal health. A clear
understanding of the maternity care system, maternal health research, and
comfort with providing technical assistance to fellow stakeholders is also
idea. The Policy Analyst will work on a dynamic team committed to improving
birth equity, expanding access to holistic person-centered care, and ultimately
eliminating maternal health disparities. The analyst will be supervised by and
report to the Policy Director. This position is full-time and will be remote.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Work
with the Policy Director to advance NBEC's maternal health and health
equity priorities through legislation, regulations, and other policy
efforts;
- Conduct
federal legislative analysis and develop policy recommendations that are centered
in a reproductive justice and health equity framework;
- Develop
and prepare federal policy briefs, fact sheets, and other policy
publications
- Build and maintain relationships with members of Congress and executive branch staff
- Represent the organization at coalition tables, Congressional and advocacy events
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in Political Science, Public Health, Social Sciences or related discipline
- At least two years of experience in legislative and administrative policy development, public health research, data analysis, project management, or other relevant experience
- Deep understanding of historical and current systems that influence maternal and infant health, reproductive justice, health equity and health policy
- Superb organizational skills, strategic judgment, and ability to think quickly and creatively
Benefits and Compensation
Salary range: $80,000-$90,000, based on experience.
