Global Health Strategies (GHS) is a global company that uses advocacy, communications, and policy analysis to advance issues and power campaigns that improve health and wellbeing around the world. We work across some of the world's most dynamic regions to enable policy innovations, mobilize resources, and build political will, engaging global and local audiences to drive change. GHS is headquartered in New York with offices in Kenya, South Africa, India, Brazil, China and the UK. GHS is currently seeking to grow its regional presence in East Africa through its Kenya office, and is looking for Junior Associate and Associate candidates who have experience working in public health, communications and/or advocacy in this region, and a passion for global health and social justice issues. Location: Remote work with affiliation to GHS New York and Nairobi offices About the position Junior Associates and Associates will work closely with GHS staff to assist in the design and implementation of communications and advocacy strategies for a range of issues in global health. Junior Associates and Associates will spend the majority of their time supporting meaningful client work and will be provided with opportunities for training, development, and career growth. Junior Associate and Associate candidates will be recent graduates (Bachelor's or Master's) with knowledge of and experience working in an African country, especially East Africa. After an onboarding period with GHS’s New York team, successful candidates will work in the GHS Nairobi office. Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic GHS, staff members in all offices are working remotely and will only return to physical premises when it is deemed safe. The role offers successful applicants an opportunity to: • Gain exposure to and contribute to the development of the global health field internationally and in East Africa specifically • Hone communications, advocacy, writing, research, and strategic thinking skills • Work with high-profile clients on high-impact projects • Attend and take part in organizing important global health moments and meetings • Receive professional mentorship and training Qualifications • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., communications, journalism, public health, public policy, etc.) • Strong writing, researching, and critical thinking skills • Entrepreneurial, innovative, and passionate about improving global health • Previous work experience in global health, communications and/or advocacy is desirable • Ability to speak, read and write in French is desirable Requirements • Applicants must be willing to relocate to the GHS Nairobi office when onboarding period is concluded • Applicants with F1 and J1 visa and who are eligible to work in the USA under an Optional Practical Training (OPT) or an Academic Training (AT) are encouraged to apply Structure • Successful applicants will be hired full-time and will undergo a training period in GHS New York and then transition to GHS Nairobi thereafter • Training and development opportunities may include: • Frequent development opportunities through office-wide training on a variety of topics, such as writing, communications strategies, social media, and public speaking • Daily/weekly support from a manager; monthly mentorship opportunity with a member(s) of the GHS senior management team • Sponsorship to register in an online class or attend virtual conferences
