With expertise in science, health, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales solutions—including vaccines, drugs, devices, diagnostics, and innovative approaches to strengthening health systems worldwide.

    PATH is currently recruiting for a [GHP Planning and Ops Intern] to work within the Global Health Program (GHP) management team, reporting to David Fleming.

    The intern will work with teams across PATH and most closely with colleagues in shared services; country offices; and program areas (HIV/TB, health systems, malaria, non-communicable diseases, maternal newborn child health and nutrition, digital health, and reproductive health.

    Description Of The Project The Intern Will CompleteProject 1. The intern’s primary focus will be to create a framework for how PATH incorporates equity into global health programming.

    Description of the learning objectives and goals of the internship:1.1 Bolster project design and management skills

    2.1 Gain exposure to various equity frameworks and learn how they have been tested and applied to global public health;

    2.2 Provide targeted recommendations to PATH on effective next steps to adopting an equity framework

    2.3. Strengthen informal, semi-structured qualitative research competencies

    Proposed Activities For The Internship1.1.1 Conduct a literature review for reports and recommendations regarding ideas and frameworks for the inclusion of equity (broadly defined to include multiple determinants, including “headquarter/field” inequity) in the development and execution of project and program work.
    • In this review, discuss how INGOs and funders have embarked on this type of work. Interested donor audiences include Gates, USAID, Hilton, RWJ, UNITAID and GAVI.
    2.1.1 Engage in informal, semi-structured interviews among a subset of PATH employees to understand barriers to equity and inclusion efforts and gauge feasibility of applying an equity framework across PATH;

    2.1.2. Support a consultative process (schedule, take notes, compile inputs, etc.) to develop and iterate a framework for PATH.;

    2.1.3. Support the finalization of an equity framework;

    • Final write-up and presentation of qualitative findings to appropriate stakeholders
    • Finalization of a proposed equity framework
