SCOPE OF WORK
Student Trainee Intern

Department: Global Programs Office

Position Reports To (Assignment Preceptor): Chantelle Allen
Location: Baltimore or Washington DC [Home-based with virtual or in-person meetings] 
Assignment Duration: Approximately 100 hours over 4 month period

**Interns currently enrolled as students in a JHU graduate program will be compensated at standard rates** 

Overview: MOMENTUM— or Moving Integrated, Quality Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health and Family Planning and Reproductive Health Services to Scale— is a suite of USAID projects that aims to accelerate reductions in maternal, newborn, and child mortality and morbidity in high-burden countries by increasing host country commitment and capacity to provide high-quality, integrated health care.

MOMENTUM 2A (M2A), implemented by Jhpiego and 12 partner agencies, focuses on (1) providing targeted technical and capacity development assistance to USAID missions, partner countries, and local organizations, and (2) contributing to global technical leadership and policy dialogue for improved maternal, newborn, and child health, voluntary family planning, and reproductive health outcomes.

M2A is seeking an intern to support the team conducting a landscape analysis to review past and ongoing programming and identify opportunities for catalytic investments to improve the quality of maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH), nutrition, family planning (FP), and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) at health facilities in Ghana.

Responsibilities: 

• Support Technical Advisors in coordinating, completing and synthesizing reviews of project documents, surveys, assessments and evaluations

• Conduct targeted reviews of academic literature

• Assist with project knowledge management

• Participate in project team meetings

• Contribute to reports, presentations and other knowledge products

Required Qualifications:

• Enrolled in masters or doctorate program in public health, international affairs or related discipline

• Coursework in two or more of the following: MNCH, FP/RH, WASH, nutrition, health service delivery in low and middle income countries, quality of care

• At least one year of experience in public or international health, international development or a related field • Detail oriented • Strong writing skills • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualification: 

• Familiarity with Ghanaian health system

• At least one year of experience in project coordination, monitoring & evaluation, or knowledge management

• Sharepoint familiarity
